The following link is to the booklet Honorable Sabotage, which has been prepared by the Strategic Studies Office of the “New Iran Party” and the think tank of “Iranian Affairs”. This booklet, backed by years of fighting the Islamic Republic regime, emphasizes the need for a shift in the national resistance methods of Iranians against this oppressive regime.
The Islamic Republic, a regime filled with corruption, depravity, and darkness, has not refrained from any violence or cruelty towards protesting citizens during its over four decades of rule. The people, who have tested all possible means of resistance against this occupying government—from utilizing the structural opportunities within the regime to street protests and civil disobedience—have received nothing but torture, imprisonment, execution, and murder in return. Yet, the Iranian people have not surrendered to this totalitarian repression and have repeatedly demonstrated their growing determination to overthrow the regime.
The experience of recent struggles has shown that merely relying on presence and shouting in the streets—despite some significant achievements—has brought heavy costs for many of us. Today, many believe that to save Iran, another option must also be pursued. Civil resistance is a strategy of struggle against the occupying regime for us. One of the tactical components of this civil resistance can include tactics of disobedience combined with degrees of legitimate violence, such as the right to self-defense and honorable sabotage. Just as Nelson Mandela defended the act of honorable sabotage in his famous 1964 court speech, we too believe that using this tactic is a path to victory over the oppressive Islamic regime.
We are at a point where we must either accept the complete destruction of Iran and Iranians, or fight the entire Islamic Republic. We must respond to the regime’s violence with legitimate and honorable violence; a type of violence that bears no resemblance to the violence of the rebels of 1979, guerrilla warfare, terrorism, or revenge. Honorable sabotage, instead of destroying lives, prevents it. This tactic will inspire the nation and encourage them to participate in collective and revolutionary actions.
Sabotage also offers a solution for those individuals who contact us and express their desire to use violent methods. In our belief, resorting to honorable sabotage will provide them with tangible evidence of the effectiveness of this combat strategy in advancing the Iranian national revolution. We must fully implement and test this tactic before moving on to another option. Victory is ours because we are countless.
